I’ve been a surgeon for 13.5 years now and a quilter for 20. Sewing has always provided stress relief and, as a professional bonus, has helped refine my manual dexterity. This piece was hand cut and hand pieced during my residency using fabric I purchased while in undergraduate school. It was machine quilted while I was in the US Navy and pregnant with my daughter. Certainly not my largest or best work, but the history contained here always makes me smile.
